My Sustainable World:
We are all trying to work towards the ultimate goal of a sustainable world, but what is a sustainable world? There is no correct definition; everyone has their own opinion on it. My sustainable world is an eco - friendly one, from transportation to resources/materials, filled with life and morality.
Pollution? What’s Pollution? In my sustainable world the amount of pollution is extremely low. Thanks to all the plants crowding the streets and backyards, the air smells fresh as it used to. Factories do not pollute anymore because they do not burn fossil fuels for energy. Their new source of energy is waste from bacteria living around plants (waste is electrons). Gasoline is no longer used because it’s production causes pollution. Cars are all electric and fuel cell. Humans rely on wind power, solar power, and water turbines to generate all the energy we need to power things in our life. Technically, pollution doesn’t really exist anymore.
One of the top priorities in my sustainable world is the environment. People realize that it provides oxygen, shelter, water, food, and space, ALL of the main resources humans and other animals need to survive, so of course they’re top priority! When we build new buildings and places, we do our best to not impact the environment or fellow humans in a negative way. We also do what we can to keep the environment healthy. For example, we use alternatives to plastic, like using cloth bags, or steel containers, instead of plastic. All these little things help keep the earth green.
As I mentioned, morality and ethics are very important in my sustainable world. People’s views are respected and taken into consideration whenever making decisions, and differences are celebrated. No person is judged by gender or sexuality; we are all the same. People in my sustainable world are empathetic with others, so lots of people donate to those in need.
A sustainable world is one that is maintainable, so that it can continually be used to keep all life in it healthy. Keeping the environment healthy is mandatory to keeping a sustainable world, because the environment has the main resources all life needs to be healthy. Morality and ethics are important to a sustainable world, because in order to improve the world and make it more sustainable, we have to get along and work together. If we do these two things, we will have almost achieved a sustainable world.
My Sustainable World Image:
My sustainable world image shows people of all kinds working together to help lift the earth (keep it healthy). The fact that people are lifting the earth represents everyone caring about the environment. The fact that people of all kinds are helping, displays that no one is judged by their differences.
How I can make this a reality:
There are four main steps to changing anything. The first step is to get everyone necessary in order to make the change, on board. The more people on board, the easier it will be to change what is wrong. I can do my part and raise awareness by posting on the internet, or just by telling a friend. The next step is to Brainstorm. This gives plenty of ideas to consider and execute. I can do my part by thinking of my own ideas based on what we are already doing, and possibly help someone else with their idea. Before you execute an idea, you need to get feedback, and you can do that by sharing your ideas with other people. I can spread my ideas over the internet in ways like writing a blog. I can also give feedback to other people on their ideas. Now there’s only one thing left to do, execute. Once the plans have been made, I can help make an idea happen whether I need to correct my actions, plant a tree, organize an event, or whatever needs to be done.
What impact colonization had on our journey to a sustainable planet:
Right now we are trying to fix the damage that resulted in an unsustainable world. However, humans don’t realize that some of the damage dates back thousands of years, when colonization began. Colonization exposed life to different resources and different ways of life. As a result of the way we handled this, it had a negative effect on our journey to a sustainable world.
Once people were given different materials from different places, they started to value them and use them to improve their life, encouraging trade and what is now known to be stealing. When people took what they wanted, they didn’t compensate for what they had taken. For example, the British came to America and cut down trees, but didn’t compensate by planting more. Those trees helped keep the area sustainable, so when cut down, the ecosystem was disturbed. If humans had done a better job of compensating, we would be in a world that is more sustainable than the world we live in.
Though colonization introduced some useful resources, it also brought death to indigenous life. Livestock and people brought diseases to the new lands. Life in the new lands had never been exposed to such diseases and had no immunity to them. There was also no local cure, so life could not be supported, and areas became unsustainable. Sometimes, colonists became enemies with the indigenous people, resulting in war and death. This was a loss because we could've worked with the indigenous people to create a completely different and possibly more sustainable world.
Colonization harmed our journey to a sustainable world in multiple ways. As a result of not compensating and death, colonization created sharp and jagged rocks on our path to a sustainable world. If humans had compensated and been more cautious and empathetic about death, colonization could've created at least a few stepping stones.

i agree with your idea for a sustainable world
I like your view on the environment and your wide use of vocabulary. Your opinions of a sustainable world are also very well structured.
I like how you think that we should know that one of the top priorities. Your third paragraph really shows how strongly you feel about the environment.
Aarthi,
I like that you have a lot of good vocabulary words to get to the point quickly while still helping the readers understand all the details. I also like how you thought about morality as well as the environment.
I like your image of a sustainable world and how you tied community and environment together.
