#Decarbonize : Decolonize Project 2017-18
Interactive Simulation
1. Ecological Footprint Calculator -Link
- What part of your ecological footprint most surprised you? It showed me how big my carbon footprint was and it was massive.
- How did your footprint compare to your city’s average and your country’s average? Not as bad because I bike to school a lot.
- What parts of your footprint do you feel is possible to reduce? What parts don’t? I think I can’t stop my parents from using the oven or cook food because if they didn’t we would starve but I think I could change my carbon footprint by biking to school more and instead of having a heater on I could put on a sweater or Jacket.
2. Climate Challenge - Link
It doesn’t work on my computer
- What strategy did you take in Climate Challenge? Was it effective in reducing emissions?
- What did you think of how the strategy cards represented resources? Do you think some of the strategies/policies would have different impacts than the ones shown in the game?
- How did you approach international negotiations? Was it better to lead by example, or attempt to encourage other nations by investing in their green economies?
3. Water Footprint Calculator -Link (Global North Schools), Link (Global South Schools)
- Where you surprised by how much water you consumed? No I was not because if I did not consume that much water a year I wouldn’t be able to live.
- How did your footprint compare to your country’s and the world's average? (You will need to research this.) A little less than a average person because I only consume 756 cubic meters of water a year while the global average is 1243 cubic meters per year.
- What parts of your footprint do you feel is possible to reduce? What parts don’t? Maybe I could stay in much more shaded areas so I wouldn’t get as thirsty or I could have a bucket so when I shower it could collect the water.
