morocco : My vision for a sustainable world

Sep 22, 2017 by Chama
  • A) What is your vision for a sustainable world?

My vision for a sustainable world would be: having to put the brakes on car usage. This will reduce congestion and air pollution which is generally the main cause of climate change which implies the damage of Earth.

Certainly the role of the car has become highly important though controversial. It is used throughout the world and has become the most popular mode of transport in the more developed countries. Nowadays, people can’t stand not using cars at least 3 times a day. In addition to this each family owns over than 1 car, which is a bane that threatens our world. Just think about it, we are 7 billions of people; if everyone of us used his car at least twice a day would the atmosphere sustains it?

However, the result of the frequent use of cars: car pollution, which contributes significantly to climate change, which results from a build-up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Burning fossil fuels in cars releases carbon dioxide, which is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. As these gases build up, they trap heat in the atmosphere, causing climate change.

  • B)What are you planning to do to make this vision a reality?

My plan for making my vision a reality is searching and finding a strategy to convince people reduce the use of individual cars and walk, ride a bike or use public transportation instead.

Another solution is presented: Instead of using harmful energies on cars like gasoline we can use cleaning energies like solar energy, wind energy and even water energy. There are many articles that have been published about hydrogen engines and electrical engines. Some of them have been performed in real life like cars of Tesla Company, which is producing cars with electrical engine, the thing that is beneficial from environmental view.

Hi Chama,

I appreciate that you took a stance that you are passionate about in this post. I would challenge you to think about the way not just cars, but oil and gas dependency impact our environment. Like you said the act of driving a car contributes to the destruction, but what about the mechanisms that go into building a car? transporting a car from the country it was built? extracting oil from the ground to fuel cars. It is important to recognize how many of these things we come to rely on daily are connected to larger systems of industry and destruction.

You considered an important cause of the global gas emission, however keep in mind that it is not the only one. Anyway i really enjoyed reading your blog ! Thanks for sharing!

I know that there are many causes of climate change , but I think that pollution is the main cause of all problems ! Thank you for your comment , and you're welcome :) !
