1) How do you think different students view climate change? Imagine you ‘wear your own pair of green sunglasses’ when looking at this issue. Can you identify the value in multiple perspectives?

“Candidly, I don’t really take climate change into account. Do we even have to care whether it exists or not? I mean, it’s not affecting me in anyway.” Henry, my classmate uttered in such an ignorant way during one of our chit chat sessions. “You ought to care because one way or another it does affect you as far as living on earth is concerned. Climate change to me has a very defective impact. For instance, coming closer to home, Kenya, it has caused the food instability in our countrydue to delayed rainy season and extended droughtthat is really draining our government’srevenue that is used to import foodstuffs leading to bankruptcy and damaging the economy.“, Tamika, one of the participants in my group responded convincingly. “As much as we loathe climate change , it is indeed quite beneficial. It is argued that climate change has brought about less winter deaths than before. Cold in actuality is the biggest killer” yet another participant responded.

As I was sitting listening to this debate I came to a conclusion that either Henry did not understand what “climate change” is or his exposure did not measure up to reality. Because of Tamika, Henry had to go back to his research engine and dig up for data. Myriad perspectives, I discovered aids on the outlook of climate change.

What is your vision for a sustainable world?

I would immensely love to discern what was there in the last few years being present in the near future hence bringing me having visionslike:

Food security.

Inexpensive and clean energy

Clean Water and Sanitization

Long term infrastructure and evolution

What are you planning to do to make this vision a reality?

Food Security:

Clasp on new technology for knowledge transfer amongst both urban and rural farmers.

Increased investment in agriculture.

Ensure food is properly stored for future calamities (emergency support).

Managing Risk and Vulnerability in agriculture

Inexpensive and clean energy

Making use of renewable natural resources more than non-renewable resources.

Use of cheap clean alternative energy.

What impact has colonization had on our journeytowards a sustainable planet?

Colonization, it is argued ,has brought an impelling negative impact towards successfully obtaining a sustainable planet.

We ought to join forces and make the planet a conducive ambience.

Hi TinTin, pleasure to meet you. I am Lebo, your Cop 23 Mentor. I enjoyed how you shared the perspectives of your fellow classmates and then reflected on them. I would have loved to see your image for climate change and would love to hear more about what you mean when you say "Colonization, it is argued, has brought an impelling negative impact towards successfully obtaining a sustainable planet".

I look forward to hearing more from you.
