A) What is your vision for a sustainable world?

My vision for a sustainable world is one of both our natural world and our ever evolving technology in harmony. Technology would be used for the better, researching and taking action to eliminate harmful gases and toxins emitted into the atmosphere. Solar, wind, and water power would be harnessed at it’s highest peak in order to eliminate all harm from our planet. Each country would be in peace with one another, coexisting in our world by lending a helping hand wherever it is needed. Large natural preserves in vast locations would serve as a haven for the plant and animal life in order to protect their equally important lives.

Transportation would be fueled by eco-friendly resources available, providing different measures of transportation options that are safer and better equipped. Bicycles and similar human powered transportation means would be developed and widely used. There would be perfectly timed systems to allow vehicles to go directly to their destination without needing to stop at stoplights or for other cars, and there wouldn’t be fatalities on the road because of precise calculations. Only renewable energy sources would be used in this developed world, using it to develop cures for diseases across continents. Every country would have the same rights as any other, creating worldwide human rights in order to achieve fairness. Global leaders would meet at different points during the year to discuss the strengths and weaknesses in their community in order to help each other find solutions. Another follow-up meeting would be held in order to asses the progress that was made.

Every person on the planet would have a job that they enjoyed going to every day, and children with a proper education. By putting education on how our sustainable planet works as first priority, the pioneers of our future would learn at an early about what would make the world an even greater place. Outside activities would be part of a day at school in order to savor and nurture our planet. Recycling centers would be present within reach of a local neighborhood for easy access. All non-renewable energy sources and materials would not be used, and replaced with different options.

Neighborhood children all get along together, and homes all have recycling bins. All food waste would be composted at the recycling centers or a family compost bin outside. Food packaging would also be made out of earth friendly, renewable material and could decompose or be recycled. With all these additions to our sustainable world, each and every living being would enjoy and care for our world with the eyes of one to see the world flourish.

B) What are you planning to do to make this vision a reality?

Although there is a long road to take in order to achieve this utopia, it is possible with dedication and collaboration in the years to come. First steps on this journey would be to widely educate the world and bring attention that our world is in need of a solution for a sustainable world. The leaders of each country would converse in a meeting in order to take action before it is too late, bringing many possible alternatives to the table in order to decide how to proceed. From there, it is up to the people. With the plan unfolded, new jobs would be created in order to carry along the plan globally, adopting worldwide standards and codes to reduce waste globally.

C) What impact has colonization had on our journey to a sustainable planet?

Colonization has impacted our journey to a sustainable planet with the education and resources we receive on a daily basis by adapting over time from mistakes and change we have faced. When colonization begins, much knowledge is not known yet, and we have to be open to new ideas and flexible as a community in order to achieve what is best for our planet earth overall. Many bad parts of colonization will occur during this time of transition, as we have seen in times of our past. Diseases have spread, wild animals and plants have been brought overseas, as well as different lifestyles. However, one thing remains true. Each and every time this has happened, we have overcome it. Diseases were fought with medications, animals were tamed and plants were grown in specific regions. The different lifestyles were adapted to and changed in order to create a world that is better developed. When globally, we begin to accept this flexibility during the time of change, the progress towards a sustainable world will prosper.
