United States: 2c. Pre-bilateral - Case Study

Environment   Oct 6, 2017 by stellajames

My case study is on hydraulic fracking in the U.S. Hydraulic fracking is a horizontal well stimulation technique in which rock is fractured by a pressurized liquid. This is a very big problem. Hydraulic fracking can cause contaminated water because of methane gas leaking to wells nearby. Furthermore, it can cause many health problems. Hydraulic Fracking impacts both indigenous and industrial countries. It also impacts climate change, by polluting methane, which is a very powerful greenhouse gas. All of this gas is produced while fracking. Methane produces 25 times the potency of carbon dioxide, meaning less of it is more carbon dioxide. On the other hand, it can help the communities by creating jobs, and leasing land to frack on. There are both advantages and disadvantages to hydraulic fracking.
