United States: 2c. Case study

Oct 3, 2017 by jennifercruden

I researched hydraulic fracking which occurs all around the U.S. This can contribute to climate change because sometimes methane gas leaks from the wells. Methane is a very powerful greenhouse gas which means that when there is leaked methane, we end up contributing to climate change. Another environmental impact of hydraulic fracking is that it can contaminate drinking water and make the drinking water of people living around these areas dirty and undrinkable. This means that both indigenous and non-indigenous people living in these places can be disadvantaged. Hydraulic fracking does benefit some people, though. For example, hydraulic fracking provides many jobs for people in the U.S. and therefore helps the economy. All in all, hydraulic fracking has both disadvantages and advantages.

I agree with you in the part of the disadvantages and advantages, because I know that there is a trade off, it is better for the economy and at the same time is worst to the environment
