- What are the most relevant actions/targets proposed in SDG#13?
I believe that the most important actions proposed in SDG#13 are that, "143 parties ratified the Paris Agreement," and that, "developed countries have committed to jointly mobilizing $100 billion by 2020." The reason I think these are the most significant is because it shows that multiple countries are committed to solving climate change and possess a powerful level of commitment.
- How do SDG#13 targets respond to the challenges created by the effects of climate change in water in both indigenous and non-indigenous communities?
In 13.1, 13.1.1, and 13.1.2, it talked about how countries are working to mitigate the effects of natural disasters, because climate change is influencing natural disasters. For example, climate change often heat up oceans, causing more hurricanes to occur and become stronger. Also, In 13.3, it said communities are working to raise awareness and education levels of climate change.
- What other areas do you think should be taken into account?
I think people should be taught about the impact that their lifestyles have on the environment and how to reduce those effects. Things like eating lots of meat, not having efficient cars or homes, can have a huge impact on climate change.
- What elements would you incorporate if you had to build and action/target that addressed water, Indigenous peoples, and non-indigenous people. Provide a brief rationale that justifies each element.
I would incorporate that sea levels rising have become a big problem caused by all of the ice melting in the poles and in Greenland. The effects of this include more severe flooding as well as storms. Storms may also move farther inland than they used to. I would definitely include this element because it can potentially affect lots of people.
