A) How is the representation of climate change similar to the other things you've read/viewed? How is different?
- The similarity I find between what I know about climate change and how I see it is that for both Indigenous people and non-indigenous people, climate change is a problem and is affecting both of us, not in the same way but we are all being affected by climate change. There are some problems we are both facing but not both of us realize it.
B) Where do you see the influence of indigenous people in this video? where is it missing?
- Indigenous people live in the forest, they know the land better that anyone. The forest is like their friend, if they take, they must give back. Indigenous people can no longer rely on the knowledge that has been past from their parents, they usted to know when it was going to rain for example, but now thanks to climate change they are not able to do that.
- Indigenous people need our help, their home, our home is being destroyed by us and they are trying to protect it but without our help they will not be able to save what we have destroyed. Indigenous people know their home, they know what we need, what our planet needs and the indigenous people in the video have a very important influence, they are trying to get people to take responsibility for their actions, to have conscience and to realize what is happening, it is important that we know how climate change is affecting them and what they propose to help end climate change.
C) What solutions to climate change does this video propose?
- Reduce CO2 made by industrialized countries
- agreements to slow down or maybe stop the destruction of forests
- REDD= reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation
D) Do you agree with the representation of Indigenous peoples and climate change action in the video? why or why not?
- Yes because I believe Indigenous people are very wise people, if are telling us we are in trouble it is true. Indigenous people can not to this without our help. It is important that we take them in consideration because after all, they have always been faithful to our planet. People live on Earth in many different ways but we are connected together by being human and knowing that Earth is our only home.
E) What are the opportunities and challenges in taking seriously indigenous perspectives of climate change?
- Indigenous people may not have the same life style that we have, but that doesn't mean we don't have to take into account their opinions because Indigenous people matter and it is VERY important to know what they think about climate change.
- After all, they are the ones who know nature better that anyone else and if the Earth is trying to tell us something the ones that might get that message before any of us do or the ones that will be able to understand and not take for granted what Earth is telling us, it's them. We, non-indigenous people forget to listen to what nature tells us, we forget we only have one home and that we are destroying it, we become deaf to the Earth's problem and the Earth is screaming for help but we can't listen.
- indigenous people have always been good to the spirits of the forest as they have been good to them.
- Without the help of indigenous people, we might not be able to fix what we have destroyed, their voice matters and what they propose might be what saves us all.
