2b.Indonesia(Indigenous Responses to climate change in indonesia)

Environment   Sep 30, 2017 by Aldi Widodo

a.This video tallked a lot about carbon dioxide(CO2),which is a large factor in causing climate change. This video tallked a lot about Redd++ which holds some suggestions of solutions to stopping climate change.

I think the video was made focus to indigenous people and how they are relate to climate change. This is make this video different.

b.Indigenous people are effected the most from climate change their lives depend on food sources in the forest,if forest are drastically reduced, food sources decreased on the other hand indigenous people have local wisdom which enables them to procted the forest.

c.Solutions to climate change proposed in this video are:RADD++,industrialised countries have agreed to reduce their carbon dioxide production

d.Indigenous people are affected the most from climate change. their lives depend on food sources in the forest. If forest are drastically reduced, food sources decrease, including vegetation for medicinal use, infact most of the medicine. We regulary consume comes from forest.

Indigenous people have local wisdom which enables them to protect the forest. In a not shell they have a direct dependency to the forest, those who protect the forest, will be protected by the forest.

e.The government need to collaborate with indigenous people in an effort to preserve the forest and peat lands.

In indonesia Redd+ supported radio benor for the indigenous people or calling “orang rimba”who dwell in the bukit dua belas national park area of the province of jambi. The radio was an effective communication tool as well as exchange of information between indigenous people and local communities .it Was great to know that most of the presenters. Were members of the indigenous people

Hi Aldi,

Thanks for your post for assignment 2b. You've made some very interesting comments!

The most interesting aspect of your post was your very last comment, where you talked about how REDD+ had a positive impact in your country. I like seeing 'real' stories about 'real' people to demonstrate how climate change programs have actually worked and have had a benefit to the people they were intended for.

The concepts outlined in the video seem like a good idea, in theory, but can you see any issues or problems with the way the information was presented in the video? Was the video completely objective, or do you think there may have been some bias included?

You have an example of how REDD+ worked in Indonesia, but do you have any examples of how it didn't work? Is the REDD+ program supported by all Indigenous Peoples and groups? Why or why not?
