Canada- My Elogical Footprint

Sep 18, 2017 by cielo meza
  1. What is climate change? And how does it affect you?

Climate change is a particular change in the weather, that has very bad results. Climate change affects me, and everybody else negatively. For example the Arctic ecosystem is vulnerable to climate change, with the increasing of heat hitting the ice caps, many species are being affected. As a key indicator we have the polar bears, their numbers have been reducing significantly.

That's a way it's affecting us, we are losing the animals- there are now so many endangered species than there was back then.

2.

  1. what's your vision for a sustainable world?

My vision is that we don't take more than we give.

We need to balance the way we do things. For example we are trees down, and then we plant more, which is good. Yet it takes time for them to grow.

We want to fill our needs, not our greeds, and if we keep that going the rapid depletion of resources dooms future generations and that our selfish nature outdoes our foresight.

b) what are you planning to do to make your vision a reality?

I plan to raise Awareness that we need to start taking less, or else the answer in 2. A) will unfortunately happen.

We need to think, and start making a new way of getting things.

We're already working on making our world our better place, with recycling, donating, sponsoring etc.

I know that my vision can be a reality if we can spread the message and show everyone because some people are sadly blinded that they do not see what's happening on the other side.

C) what impact has colonization had on our journey to a sustainable planet?

It's having people from different parts of the world, going to a completely different country that has different ways of thinking.

It makes them think more, and for the other side it teaches them that there are countries that have better things, but can also have not very good resources

For example Africa and U.S.A

Both have people in them, here's the thing most people that live in U.S.A come from the top, yet there is still poverty in U.S.A

In Africa, there is so much poverty, that's what apparently most people think.. but there are also amazing, beautiful riches that, that country has.

Most people don't notice that,

So what I'm trying to show is that bringing people from other countries to another one is raising awareness and showing a new perspective.

Hi Cielo,

A very great submission, and from it, I can really sense your passion for this topic, so please keep it up! I like how you spoke of the power of taking action-maybe look at this in multiple lenses: what can you do in your community to influence and empower others? What can governments do to ensure the balance you spoke of? Remember that our main target is the people who are ignorant or apathetic towards climate change-how to you impact them and involve them in your efforts? I really like how you made a comparison between Africa and the USA and reflected on the circumstances of each. I was curious as to if there's any way to form a bond or connection between countries, so we can support, learn from each other, and really make solving climate change an international collaborative effort.

Thanks so much for your dedication, and never stop fighting for something you're passionate about :)

Cheers,

Helen
