Based on my footprint we would need almost an entire world to support the consummation if everyone lived like me and what surprises me most is how much the level of consummation can affect the world, there is a large production of gaseous pollutants in our daily actions and even small things can contribute to its degradation. It is necessary to rethink our attitudes because as we can improve the world we can also destroy it through our actions. It is possible to reduce the ecological and carbon footprint caused by us, but we cannot stop them.

An unquestionable truth is that we are responsible for climate change, and in the way, we live today it is unlikely that our attitudes do not affect the environment, what cannot be consent is that we continue to act without thinking about the consequences, no matter how small a daily amount of guilt. So, there is a lot to be done, an example is the means of transportation available where I live, using transports such as the subway, walking and /or cycling would be more correct and less harmful to the environment. Unfortunately, riding a bus has been the most common way to travel here, due to the lack of options and investment in sustainable public transport, a viable solution at the moment would be the investment in electric vehicles, which would considerably reduce the emission of gazes produced by vehicles using petroleum-derived fuels. Other points to be considered are recycling, it is important that the population is involved and collaborate for division of materials and of course, the renewable means of producing energy like solar and wind and which have great untapped potential in Brazil.

Hi Isamara,

Thank you for your reflection on this activity. I can tell you are thinking about the content information and reflection on your own actions. I think it can seem quite overwhelming at times when I think about all the changes people will need to make, but if each person starts with small changes and continues to build on that it would make a difference. Well done on connecting the simulations to your own community. I think that the availability of buses is better than people driving their own cars; however, as you mentioned it seems like there is room for improvement. I wonder if there is something you could do to try and promote investment in sustainable public transport? Are there any environment groups in your community that might be working towards something like this? Recycling would also be a positive addition for all homes and communities. I am personally very interested in new technologies to make products from more sutainable materials rather than plastic. One last question is how do you think other people in your community would do with the carbon footprint? Would they be similar to you or higher/lower?
