Costa Rica: 1b Interactive simulations

Environment   Sep 2, 2017 by sofia ferreiro
        • How do these simulations relate to your community? Do any of them feel irrelevant to your context?

The simulators can help our community to realize that the things we do, use or even eat every day affect more than we thought climate change. In my opinion all of the three simulators are relevant because in this way we can still have fun but also learn that people are doing things the wrong way. The carbon footprint relates to my community (San Jose, Cost Rica) in a way because not all the descriptions match exactly what we have.

      • How do these simulations help you (or not help you) find your place in combatting climate change?
      • The simulators really helped me because in a "fun" way I could learn all the things I am doing wrong and also provided me different ways in which I could help climate change. The simulator that mostly helped me was the one of the carbon footprint because It´s incredible that little things that we do each day like using a car or even eating a exported product affects so much climate change.

      • Have these simulations changed how you think climate change should be tackled?
      • I realize that by doing little things like starting shopping in farmer´s market we can improve climate change. All of the three simulators changed how I thought of how climate change should be tackled but the one of carbon footprint let us observe that If we continue living like this our Earth won't be able to provide for many years. One solution is that the countries start using renewable energy and stop using fossil fuels. Another solution that is really affordable is just to choose a good diet based in locally grown products, In this way we can help climate change by just changing the things we eat daily.

Yes Sofia, every little thing we do really counts. For sure we can not continue in our present way of living and doing things, for the past 40 or more years, we have been running ecological deficit, the time to start doing the right thing is now.

Have you considered practical positive steps you can take to improve the environment, your plan to continue in such ways, and  get others to follow your example? Please endeavour to share with us

Great picture of "locally grown" foods and wind energy....:) way to go Sofia.

Spread the word " every little contribution counts"
