1. Ecological Footprint Calculator -Link

  1. What part of your ecological footprint most surprised you?

The part of my ecological footprint most surprised me is the cropland. Because I often eat meat products, I have a 1.2 gha, meaning that I consume food that required 1.2 global hectares to grow. I did not know it took that much resources and land to grow food.

  1. How did your footprint compare to your city’s average and your country’s average?

The national average is 9.6 global hectares, while I scored 6.5 global hectares. This makes me more aware on how unstustianable people can be, considering the calculator claims I need 4 earths to have sustainable worlds if everybody like me, and I am below the national average!

  1. What parts of your footprint do you feel is possible to reduce? What parts don’t?

I felt that I can reduce my cropland footprint and carbon footprint. If I eat more sustainable foods and use more public transportation, I could be more sustainable. However, I cannot change my built up by land footprint because somebody else will use the area if I do not, increasing their land usage and not making the world more sustainable.

2. Climate Challenge - Link

  1. What strategy did you take in Climate Challenge? Was it effective in reducing emissions?

I tried to invest in climate friendly laws and taxes, which was effected.

  1. What did you think of how the strategy cards represented resources? Do you think some of the strategies/policies would have different impacts than the ones shown in the game?

The strategy cards represented resources very realistically. Each strategy card is different because it provides and uses different resources and emissions.

  1. How did you approach international negotiations? Was it better to lead by example, or attempt to encourage other nations by investing in their green economies?

I tried to lead by example in international negotiations so soon other countries would like my data and try to become more green.

Hi Ethan, how's it going? Thanks for your post on this topic. I'm curious: you said that you tried to invest in climate friendly laws and taxes, can you tell me a little more about that?
