CILT- BRASÍLIA-BRAZIL- Class: 2D- Teacher: Cristina Lourenço- 1A "THE START"

Environment   Aug 16, 2017 by Nathália Cristina

In my opinion, to have a sustainable world, we need to have cooperation and awareness before everything.Because with cooperation we can get where we want with the help of all. And with awareness we can understand how important it is to have a healthy world without ecological problems. If we help with small changes in our day to day, for example, stop buying unnecessary things, the world is sure to improve gradually. The lack of water is also a major ecological problem that if we have conscience this problem can be solved.

Because of this water problem, in the state where I live, they are doing a lot of work so that the water dispersion decreases itself.

Colonization has brought several consequences to our country, but one of the biggest is environmental pollution. This certainly affected our country a lot, and consequently the country. Moreover, the destruction of the Atlantic Forest with the extraction of the ''Pau Brazil'' was enough to make our lands very weak. And that was also a big step for our forest to decline. One of the benefits of colonization was the indigenous lands full of megabiodiversities and ecological riches.

Hi Nathalia,

I am a  mentor matched with your school. I am Canadian and a graduate student at the University of Alberta and I currently live in Shanghai.

I think you have some great ideas. I am interested in your ideas of cooperation and awareness and I think these are very strong ideas for creating a sustainable world. I wonder if you have any ideas about how to promote cooperation between different interest groups who may not be very interested in cooperation. Can you expand on your ideas for awareness and taking personal action? Are there ways that you might be able to create awareness about the day to day actions that you mention you will take? You have also mentioned water as a problem. Can you explain more about the problem and potential solutions? Are there ways that you could personally get involved to help with the water problems in your state?

I like that you have a specific example of a consequence of colonization (destruction of the Atlantic Forest) and it certainly is a significant problem. Can you expand on your thinking about "indigenous lands with megabiodiversities and ecological riches" as a benefit of colonization? How do the indigenous people benefit from this?

Great start and I look forward to reading more of your work over the next few months.

I agree with you. Our country needs to become more aware of how we behave to take care of the environment and that we need each other's collaboration, because  if everyone is mobilized for the cause we will make a great environmental difference in that country. And surely the water problem we faced could have been avoided with our awareness of the importance of natural resources, such as water.
