CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUES AND EFFECT OF COLONISATION

Land grabs and food security are side effects of the fightagainst climate change.Cabon trading one

of the biggest weapons toutedby governent and business in the global fight against climate change

could end up killng the planet.Tropical forest absorb huge amount of atmospheric carbon.By plugging

investments  into large scale consevation of forests ,carbon trading is supposed to help reduce

global emissions and mitigate climate change.According to some villagers ,the company had engaged

in a litany of abuses : destroying their homes to clear  land for new forestry plantations ,arresting local

inhabitants for trespassing onto company licence areas ,confiscatig animals straying into those areas

,planting trees on designated community land whoe boundaries are disputed between local and company

employees , frcing villagers to relocate grazing and agriculture in ecologically sensitive areas .

By losing  access to forest ,the community had lost its primary mean ofgenerating income ,accessing

medicines and firewood ,and acquiring water holes for livestock. In all such cases ,the imperative

to conserve existing forests  or to establish new tree plantations in unforested land is systematically

encroaching on the lives of longstanding indigenous communities.

We childre an spread awareness about thisissue among people .We can ensure that we consume less

electricity .Wemust use pollution free tranporting devices like bicycle for travelling. We can plant trees

around  us and take proper careof them .Trees have a major role in absorbing CO2.
