In my opinion, decolonize is when a colony regains its independence, nowadays there are still regions that are not independent, but most are already independent.
Decarbonizing means avoiding carbon dioxide as it affects our ozone layer, so it should be avoided to the fullest. Nowadays there is already how you can reduce the carbon dioxide caused by the engine of your car, for that a chemical is used for this decrease of carbon dioxide.
