Costa Rica - Global Virtual Town Hall
A- Colonization has it's possitive things like the different cultures and learnings they provide, but also it has their bad things. Now in day in my opinion, Colonization is done incorrectly because it generates more consequences than benefits. The government usually are more worried about their earnings than the damage they do to the nature, so if they want something they don't care who gets involved even if it is an indigenous community, there should be a balance between nature and colonization.week we went to an indigenous community located in Botica, they explained to us that they were not in favor with REDD because their way of protecting the indigenous communities is by taking the land and protect their position in it but for them the land is very important. The main struggle they have is that they found d in their land a medicine or home remedy that can cure it all, so they think that once REDD get into the land they would find it and will make it their own and that would damage them.
B- To decarbonize is to reduce the amount of CO2 or fossil fuels in the atmosphere. Their are many ways of doing this, for example reducing the amount of water used every day or eating less unprocessed food. A huge way to mitigate your carbon footprint (amount of CO2 you produce) is by implementing the electric transportation or more affordable the public's transportation, these way less amount of CO2 is released daily.
C- Colonization is not bad is just done incorrectly. Colonization brings not only culture but also learnings, it becomes bad when the it involves carbonization. For example in Costa Rica a foreign company created a mine in San Carlos which produced an enormous amount of CO2 and also it contaminates everything. This is how decarbonize and Decolonize are related.
D- We can promote our ideas to mitigate and decrease the CO2 also by participating in climate change project like this one we learn more about the issue and we can talk to other people about it and convince them to change their life style even though is hard. By doing small thing we accomplish big things.
