1. Map the two terms, “decolonize” and “decarbonize,” indicating the points of overlap between them. Why must the two be carried out together? Provide brief examples from things you've learned throughout the unit to support your ideas.
- What does it mean to “decolonize”?
Colonize is to come to settle among and establish political control over. One example can be the indigenous people because It is not fair that they where here first and we colonized all their territory without even asking them their opinion.
- What does it mean to “decarbonize”?
Decarbonize its to remove the carbon from something, in this case we want to remove the excess of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that is causing climate change.
- For us decolonize it's not a negative thing but humans have not managed It correctly because developing a country its not negative we just have to find a balance in a way that we can develop our cities without damaging the environment. We all have to develop our countries in a sustainable development. This is directly connected with decarbonize because the bad development of a city leads to a bad management producing an excess on carbon emissions in the atmosphere causing climate change. We have to find a balance and know that money its not the priority, the only priority that we need to have its to save the planet because we only have 1 planet and There is no planet B.
2. How can you as students participate in this process on various levels? Provide examples.
-It is really easy as students to be involved in this process by different projects. One project in our school it's that the 7th graders are going to recompense the CO2 emissions that we will be doing traveling to Germany. They will plant a lot of trees lowering our carbon footprint, because yes we can all work together to mitigate our carbon footprint but we have to help recompense It. Another project that can work absolutely good in all countries its that we all know that for graduating we need to have a minimum of community service hours so what If we split those hours for example 100 hours of community service and plant at least 100 trees per person. Imagine If all the countries could ask that for someone to graduate from high school we would have a lot of more trees and we will all help to recompense the Earth providing It with more trees that will absorb the excess of CO2 in the atmosphere and help decrease climate change. In this way we also help the endangered species to survive and provide the animals more shelters. Another project is that we can involve little kids in this process by teaching them how to plant trees they will learn since little to take care of the environment. One of our proposals its called "Give Back What We Take" and it is that in the laws of a country it should include that If you cut trees you have to plant the double or more.
Here I leave you a two videos that really caught my attention, hope you enjoy it!

Hello Sofia, you have definitely learnt a lot from this project but here are a few things to add to clarify our understanding of colonization.
The simple meaning of colonization is " A process by which a central system of power dominates the surrounding land and its components" the key word is dominate, which is to control people. No group has the authority/right to control another group.
Another point is not to confuse technological advancement with colonization. No doubt technological advancement has brought many gains, but it should not be at the detriment of any particular set of people, otherwise it becomes oppression and colonialism. All relationships must be mutual to be considered adequate.
You can read more on colonization and lets share your thoughts.
Excellent Sofia! Indeed we need " Trees for now and for the future" I am glad your school has taken up this project. Thanks for the excellent video clips, simply passing great messages...
Excellent proposal " Give back what we take" ..... definitely the way to go.
We all have a role to play in this, thanks for including the kids, nobody should be left out. Indeed we have what it takes to fight this menace called climate change that is threatening our civilization.
Very nice pictures you included...:)
Keep the energy up... We can do this together.
Cheers
