CILT / BRASÍLIA - BRAZIL / 2D / Teacher: Cristina Lourenço - "Colonial Context"

Environment   Sep 28, 2017 by Ingrid Aimê Freire Rodrigues

The economy of my country, is directly related with climate changes. Because, between our principals industries, are charcoal and oil, fuels which, when burned, emit greenhouse gases.

These industries are directly and indirectly related with my life. For example, the release of pollutants made by a car trip can be avoided if I choose to go by train. But, only a person isn’t able to change the critical situation which we are creating, is necessary a great relation of immobilization.

Climate changes are related with power imbalances among countries too. One of the examples of why it can happen is because many countries have the agriculture as principal economic activity, and it depends totally on the weather. If the weather changes, production is seriously impaired, taking the economy together and generating consequences for the country.

Hi Ingrid,

You have made a clear connection between the economy and climate change in Brazil. I wonder, what is or if there is a connection with the current economic situation and Brazil's colonial history?

Interesting connection with climate change, agriculture, and power. This certainly can cause large problems. It also relates to countries that suffer severe weather changes which result in problems for the general public's lives and have an economic impact.
