1c. Colonial Context - US
I think that my carbon footprint reflects well upon the US because the average carbon footprint in the US is 19.8 CO2 emissions (in tonnes per year) and my carbon footprint is 12.4 CO2 emissions per year. However, the US is a pretty wealthy country and most people don't really think about what they do affects the environment. For example, most people travel on planes for vacation. They don't realize that the more they use gas powered vehicles, the more carbon is emitted into the earth. I think that the effects of climate change is related with power imbalances among countries because it hits harder on different places than others. For example, two CAT 5 hurricanes passed over many Caribbean islands recently. This has resulted in power outages that could take years to restore.
