1. How does your footprint reflect the economy of your country, including its colonial relations?
My footprint reflects that the economy of my country is prosperous. Both positive and negative aspects of my footprint reflect this. An example of a negative aspect is that I use lots of electricity for everyday use and don't think much about it. For example, I use the computer every day for homework just like the people around me while some people in some countries don't even own a computer. This shows that my country is prosperous enough to where those around me have enough money to own a computer and think it normal. This is not good for the environment, but there are some parts of my footprint that are. One example is that my family gets food from the farmers market and most of our food is local. This means that instead of buying all our food from places that have got it imported from other countries, we get food locally and end up saving water, electricity, and more. All in all, when looking at my footprint, we can see that both negative and positive aspects of it reflect that the economy of my country is wealthy.
2. How are the effects of climate change related with power imbalances among countries or within countries?
The effects of climate change are related with power imbalances among and within countries in many different ways. One example how is that the effects of climate change cause developing countries to struggle more than they cause developed countries to struggle. I say this because if a natural disaster that has been strengthened by the effects of climate change hits, they have less money and resources to replace and renew everything then developed countries do. They might end up going to a neighboring developed country to ask for help. They might get help, but end up owing the country debt which could eventually give the other country more power. In conclusion, there are many ways that the effects of climate change are related to power imbalances among and within countries, this being one of them.
