What is your vision for a sustainable world?

A sustainable world should be a reality in a near future. The technology for a self-sustained world are available to us. The world can start by producing its own energy. Solar, wind, hydraulic and tide energy are nowadays one of the most known and ecological ways to transform energy from renewable resources. This would not only produce what is called "Clean Energy" but will also asure; that with a initial investment, you will be producing energy and not waisting burned fossil fuel energy. Now natural gas and biofuel can be used instead of a fossil based fuels for cars and other motorized vehicles. These are less pollutant and expensive than some gasolines.

Cities are huge areas which can't be used for anything else than business or housing. Or is it? There are a lot of projects that promote and influence cities to be able to plant in their buildings some sort of garden. The benefits of having a green roof go form absorbing excess water from the storms to the cool and insolation of the buildings that will reduce energy costs.

What are you planning to do to make this vision a reality?

Apart from starting in my own home, I would start a local campaign for adults and kids informing and explaining the effects of our actions in the environment. I would also explain the ways you can personally contribute to the cause and how every little help do counts. Introducing the already known 3R's (Reducing, Reusing and Recycling) and how to do them could substantially reduce the amounts of residues. Also people are very intrigued to where all this recycling is going. If all their work on separating materials is having some kind of profit to the environment. Explaining the processes and products of their effort on helping the planet can encourage them to do more. After local, you can go country wise but only with a lot of dedication and progress. (I also believe that if the subject is introduced in the early years of a child, the effect of the talks will have a better effect on the realization of the situation of the planet)

What impact has colonization had on our journey to a sustainable planet?

Colonizing the planet was essential to the progress of human kind. Although the process can be very harmful to the environment of the area. The expansion of cities causes deforestation and the edification of buildings compresses the ground making in infertile. When cities or towns are built the ecosystem is disrupted affecting the animals coexisting in the environment. Until now, most of the colonization has been harmful for the planet affecting not only the local areas but in the long term the outsides of that area. But that can change. The already affected zones can be colonized by people who want to make a change and help in any way they can.

This is definitely the way to go Juan, start from your home and keep promoting the 3Rs. Please can you share some of the practical 3Rs things you do. Showing practical examples help especially with kids, and more especially because #everythingyoudomatters........:) Nice pictures!.

There are also positive sides of colonization and we can leverage on it to defeat the negatives.

Great insights.

Thank you very much Sandra! I never thought of practical examples, I will get on it at soon as I can! There are some positive sides of colonization, but I wanted to center in the bad things (I sound so negative) so it can create more continuousness and not cancel the bad things out.

Thank you for the comment! I will take in count your input!
