CILT Brazil Brasilia E6 Teacher: Denise Bomtempo - Ingrid Silva: 1A My vision of a sustainable world

Environment   Aug 18, 2017 by Ingrid Silva

My vision for a sustainable world is a place where people care about things that can be harmful for the planet and for those who live in here. In the perfect sustainable world, humans will learn how to live symmetrically with nature. I'm planning to start recycling the trash, stop wasting water, start to buy only things that I really need and encourage my familly and friends to do the same.

The colonization of our country had many bad impacts on our journey to a sustainable planet. Since the beginning a huge quantity of trees had been knocked down and that destroyed the environmental simetry that we had before. Also with the installation of many industries, Brazil has been contributing with the global warming which is a shame.

Hi Ingrid,

I am a mentor from Canada paired with Brazil. You have selected a very powerful image that I am sure evokes many emotions in people who see it. Do you have any ideas of how humans can learn to live symmetrically with nature? What would be some things that we need to change for this to happen? Your action plans sounds like a good starting point for making changes. Perhaps you can start a campaign at your school that focuses on one of these areas for taking action.

Hi Alisson,

Sorry for the late answering. First of all, I think that it´s possible to learn how to live symmetrically with nature. The ancient peoples who habited this land many years ago lived like this and for a long time it worked really well. My ideias for this life style are very primitive yet, but I think that we can start stopping the consumer feeling and start to use alternative energy means. These two actions look like they are litttle, but it is a really big step to begin. I think that the most importante part, we´re already doing right now, by not ignoring the problems we caused, we plant a seed in our comunnity that can bring positive results in the future. I´ve already started incentivanting my family and friends to act in a different way. Besides, me and my classmates are planing to develop a project so we can do something effectively big and good for the nature.
