What is your vision for a sustainable world?
A sustainable world for the Earth is a sustainable world for everyone. My vision is a utopia of my own invention. Included are the needs of the people and the needs of the world. Everyone is open and have different ideas, cultures, and religions. Even though people are different and have different thoughts people don’t treat people differently because of it. The world is at peace and people all over the globe are constantly fighting problems that come up.
My vision for a sustainable world is world with great cultural diversity. As well as a cultural diversity it is a world with people that don’t care about what race you are, your culture, religion, or where you live. The people are open, kind, and considerate. It is a place where you can open up your window and see your Portuguese neighbors kicking a ball around with with your younger sister. Where you can see the couple across the street welcoming people to their daughter’s bat mitzvah. A place when you wake up you can smell your mom making her delicious Crostatas which are Italian breakfast tarts. After breakfast your dad has a virtual video with his boss that lives in Tokyo. A place where just because we look different or believe in different things we are not treated differently.
My vision for a sustainable world is a world that has no war. Where just because we think different things doesn’t mean that it is right to treat us differently. A place where people are open to different thoughts and ideas. No one has problems against people for cultural or religious reasons. The world has no firm boundaries and it is easier to get to different places and be involved in world and country matters. There are peace meetings every year for most of the world leaders. The meetings discus world matters with open minds and help the world become a better place. But, the issues the discuss are not decided by them but their people. These meetings discuss problems like food shortages, droughts, the earth, and much more. Each year the leaders all agree on one big problem to tackle. All of the time until the next meeting they all will work on the chosen problem. At the next meeting each leader will talk about what their country did to help stop the problem and what they plan to do next. These meetings will reduce the problems in the world and help shape the future.
My vision for a sustainable world is a world where everything is shared so people don’t have to worry about clothing, where they are going to sleep, or where they will find their next meal. A place where how much money you have doesn’t define you because almost everything is used and reused. If you need anything you can go to your local stores based on what you want. If you want a nice dress for prom you could go to a fancy and fabulous clothing store in the mall. There you could look for the perfect dress in the used section. Filing through the different dresses you could find the perfect one for no price because everything is used and reused. Or perhaps you need a new laptop for your son. After inside the electronics store you can buy laptop no one needed anymore as a perfect present. Anything you need you can find at the stores for no price at all. When going shopping you no longer have to worry about prices or finding the right thing. Shopping without a hassle, what a relief!
A paradise, where everyone works together to complete common goals. A place where peace is obvious, and race or culture doesn’t matter. My vision for a sustainable world is indeed stunning and sustainable.
What are you planning to do to make this vision a reality?
Imagining a sustainable world is easy, but taking steps to make this vision a reality is the hard part. But as for me I plan on trying to use mostly compostable or recyclable items, and be careful with where I place the items (compost, trash, and recycling). I will also keep on being vegetarian. As well as being healthy, I will try to limit my car use and walk whenever I can. I will try to be an open and kind person. I hope all of these steps that I plan to do will help make the world a better place.
What impact has colonization had on our journey to a sustainable planet?
Colonization has benefits and disadvantages for the populace. For one colonization has brought different plant life which have hurt food chains and caused overpopulation. Colonization has also brought new diseases that hurt the indigenous communities. On the other hand colonization has brought new ideas and solutions. It brought new technologies that impacted the countries in either good or bad ways. Even though it helped the US become the culturally diverse country there are pro's and con's to colonization.

I like your ideas on sharing things between people. I agree that that would be an ideal type of world. While with our current systems, it might not be possible, I beleive that with some changes, this could become a reality.
Replying to Brandon Ang...
The problem they choose is not the only problem they will fight against but it will be the one mentioned at the meeting and the one that more people work on. Also you can find food get food that has not been used of course, and materials of course.
But that would all cost money that nobody has because everyone shares stuff and doesn't need money in the slightest! The farmers and miners and other people would all need to be paid, but since nobody makes stuff any more because everything is reused, they can't, which leads to the complete loss of anything that's disposable after one use. Oh, like food. Food may be a vital source for everything in life.
"you could find the perfect one for no price because everything is used and reused." What if someone becomes attached to a thing that they have and don't want to return it? Will everyone be happy that they are expected to happily get rid of anything that another person wants? What about the companies that build things? Since nobody needs to pay for anything anymore and nothing needs to be made, will the companies be gone and not generate any money for their government? If a town wants to build a structure, should they expect they can pick up 'free demolished building material' or try to reach into their money that they don't have because nobody pays taxes and the companies and government don't make any money whatsoever? How will things be produced? You cannot pick up 'free used food,' either. The people growing food or livestock need to be paid, and the stuff they're growing needs to be fed by stuff grown that now doesn't exist because nothing can be produced!
Your vision for a sustainable world is focused a lot on the people, not the environment, which I like, but I wish you included a more about the environment. Your vision where everything is shared may bring up a problem about food because if everything is shared, then people would not have to work to get reward. Then, who would harvest the crops and food and make the computers? I would like to build off your idea and make it so that people are encouraged to used second hand shops more to reuse. However, people would still have to work. Overall, I really like your base ideas.
I like your strong specific ideas. It makes it easy to empathize and connect to your vision. I found this is very effective and it encouraged me to get involved.
Your ideas about a world with no war; opened up new ideas and made me think in a different way. Great work!
Stella,
I like how detailed you are about your vision for a sustainable world. I also really like your idea about having peace meetings in order to help solve problems, to help people get along, etc.
I like how you mentions your points through a story, for example you talked about the meeting between countries and going to the mall
I like your vision for a sustainable world and what you see in the community. However, I wonder what you see for in terms of Earth's environment.
"Each year the leaders all agree on one big problem to tackle." But wouldn't other problems that world leaders aren't dealing with grow and become worse if they are ignored?
