Health Recovery

Environment   Nov 21, 2016 by Ariane Michaela Batausa

Sector: Health

Specific Issue: Water Borne Diseases (ex. Hepatitis A, Typhoid Fever, Malaria, Dengue Fever, Leptospirosis)

Area: Philippines

Mitigation Plan and Adaptation Plan:

Greenhouse gases are one of the main causes of climate change. Factories are the main contributors to the production of these gases. In order to reduce these emissions we are proposing the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through waste management in which the government will aid the factories in, by collecting their wastes and recycling them for a rain water catch system. Most water borne diseases are brought about by flooding. Leptospirosis, Dengue fever and Malaria are examples of these diseases. In order to combat these diseases we would be proposing a wide spread rain water catch system which reduces the flooding. Additionally, in order to aid in water borne diseases we are proposing a mass production of medicines for the aforementioned diseases which thus reduces the cost of the medicines.

Financing Mechanism and Technological Development:

Through accumulating all the recycled materials produced by the factories we would be producing rainwater catch systems that would reduce the amount of water that reaches the ground. The water collected could then undergo processing so that it can then be used as tap water. This would reduce the water shortage we experience during el nino season. Aside from this we would mass produce medicines through the researches which our government would be financing.
