Experiences: Who Am I?

Aug 30, 2017 by Alicia Cappello

Hi Everyone!

My name is Alicia and I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm a graduate student at the University of Alberta, where I'm enrolled in a dual Master's program in Humanities Computing (also known as Digital Humanities) and Library & Information Studies.

I really excited to be working with all of you on #Decarbonize: Decolonize for COP23 this year!

I've participated in a lot of climate change-related activities. I became a trained Climate Reality Leader at the March 2017 training session in Denver, Colorado hosted by the Climate Reality Project. I'm also a Regional Organizer for the Prairie Provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba) for the Community Climate Hub project, which is being organized via Climate Reality Canada.

I've always been very passionate about climate change. I can remember writing a dozen politicians in Canada when I was a junior in high school in order to ask for better recycling programs in schools! That was over 20 years ago and I'm so thankful that we've come so far since then. But we have so much further to go. And your participation in this project is an excellent example of how important it is to involved the whole world and people of all ages in the solutions.
