NALOCAL CLIMATE CHANGE

We are experiencing a gradual shift in local climate pattern with the city experiencing its

heaviest rainfall in its recent years .We have received 23% more rainfall than usual .

It is very stange that several depressions are forming near our coast . They normally travel

northwestwardly but that seems not to be happening this year. This a strange pattern as

there are no rains in   Kerala and Karnataka.

INDIGENOUS PEOPLE CONTRIBUTION CLIMATE CHANGE

Indigenous forest practices have thrived in areas where access to resources

were available.I think the more we invest in getting low tech resources like this

the more we will get in return to  fight deforestation  and climate change. They

can indicate threats and call for help   as their culture and livehood depend on

healthy forests .

LOCAL ORGANISATION WORK TOWARDS CLIMATE CHANGE

NAPCC aims at promoting energy efficiency as a core component of

urban planning, using pricing measures to encorage the purchase of

efficient vehicles  and incentives for use of public transportation .

Large energy consuming industries are required to undertake energy

audits .Industries releaing more carbon are required to pay carbon tax.
