How is this representation of climate change similar to the other things you’ve read/viewed? How is different?
- A.From the representation video and the different views and stories I read I noticed they both had some things in common:
- Cause and effect
- -Both the views and the video explain how carbon emissions trap heat therefore causing global warming therefore causing different weather patterns contributing to consequences such as wild fires, drought, rise in sea level and heat waves etc. They talk about the cause and how ‘we humans’ contribute to the increase of carbon emissions ( carbon dioxide ) through unrenewable substances and the reduction/ cutting down of trees that brings disastrous consequences that will not only affect the future but is affecting us right now.
- Solutions and awareness
- -They both looked for ways to create awareness by involving the whole community in part of the environmental suggestions and environmental solutions.
- B.The difference between the views I read and the representation is that in the views most people gave a subjective approach, meaning they talked about their personal view and personal opinion on climate change and how it affected them as an individual. But in the representation video it took an objective approach and talked about other people’s view‘s and opinions on climate change mainly the indigenous peoples approach on climate change.
Where do you see the influence of Indigenous peoples in this video? Where is it missing?
The influence of indigenous people on climate change was mentioned in the video in the beginning when they mentioned that indigenous people take know and take care of the environment better than any other people in the world, therefore meaning they know how to take care of the environment and how to keep it safe and well so it can give back to them. I don’t see how indigenous people may affect to contribute to the increase to global warming and how it might be because of different cultures and different sociological norms and values therefore lessening the number of indigenous people affecting contribution to helping decrease global warming.
What solutions to climate change does this video propose?
The video it first mentions that the cutting down trees and leaving waste wood to rot is the main contribution of carbon emissions, so to tackle this issue they look at: agreements to reduce the production of carbon emissions is newly industrializing countries, agreements made to slow down and maybe even stop the cutting of trees/ plants with REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation.)
Do you agree with the representation of Indigenous peoples and climate change action in the video? Why or why not?
Yes I do. This is because it they show indigenous peoples view on climate change and the effects of climate change. The representation of indigenous people in the video say how we should all come together and take a big part in the reduction on trees and plantation of trees in the REDD+ agreement because this is our world and once we take from it we must give back for all of us to survive, with the indigenous people being a key part because they know the environment best.
