What are the environmental impacts of this resource extraction?
Who benefits from this resource extraction? Who is disadvantaged? How is this connected to colonization?
What kinds of opposition / environmental preservation being carried out by the following groups, especially as this case contributes to climate change? Are any of them in conflict? Whose interests are at stake?
One of the problems extractions problems here in the US is Hydraulic Fracking. Hydraulic Fracking is the process where lots of water, sand, and chemicals are blasted into the ground in order to extract fossil fuels. Not only does the process of Hydraulic Fracking Pollute Air, but the fact that it is done to extract fossil fuels is even worse. This is because the burning of fossil fuels is one of the main causes of Air pollution, and therefore Climate Change. Hydraulic fracking seems to benefit many people, but in the long run, it only puts them in even more danger. Burning Fossil Fuels seem to be useful, they power factories, cars, planes, and many more. However, the burning of fossil fuels contributes largely to climate change and therefore negatively affects us all. Climate change could worsen hurricanes, floods, droughts our food supply, our drinking water. The possibilities are countless. The Government has made moves to try to stop Hydraulic Fracking, but it is still a problem. For example, in California there are multiple strict laws protecting water. Environmental activists are filing lawsuits to try and stop Hydraulic Fracking. In order for Hydraulic Fracking to stop, the demand for fossil fuel needs to stop. The demand can only stop if the consumers find an environmentally friendly source of energy. The public needs to take a stance to stop Hydraulic Fracking. We need to stop buying things that are related to Hydraulic Fracking. After all, we are the ones that will feel the affects.

Hi, thanks for your post! I noticed that you said that the government has made moves to stop hydraulic fracking. I am wondering if you can provide more information on how and why the government has tried to stop fracking. Here in Canada, there is a lot of fracking but the government is usually not the source of attempts to stop it.
