How is this representation of climate change similar to the other things you’ve read/viewed? How is different?
Unlike the other representations of climate change, this representation is animated. This makes the video more attractive and engaging to different ages, especially kids. The diagrams help to deeper understand what the Video is talking about. Also, in this Video the Indigenous people weren't very angry about what was happening to their land because of climate change. However, in the Videos we saw in Colonial Context, the Indigenous people seemed very angry about what climate change had done to their home. Similarly to other videos we saw, this representation of climate change is from the view of Indigenous People.
Where do you see the influence of Indigenous peoples in this video? Where is it missing?
This Video I think is well influenced by Indigenous peoples. This is especially true in the perspective the video is made in. In order to display the Indigenous peoples opinions, and thoughts throughout the video, the creators of the video had to ask Indigenous people directly. I do not think there is enough influence from Indigenous people about their personal feelings about climate change. Throughout the whole video, the Indigenous people didn't seem to have any emotion towards what was happening. This means that their is not enough influence from Indigenous peoples because Indigenous peoples' emotions have not been incorporated at all.
What solutions to climate change does this video propose?
This Video proposes the solution REDD+. REDD+ is a project where the government works with the Indigenous peoples in their country to stop one of the largest causes of climate change, deforestation. The Video states that when people cut down trees there are less and less plants to take in Carbon Dioxide. Furthermore, when people cut down trees, all the carbon dioxide stored in them gets released into the atmosphere. REDD+ works to slow down deforestation and possibly stop it, while letting the Indigenous people have a good say in what has been their home for many years (the forest).
Do you agree with the representation of Indigenous peoples and climate change action in the video? Why or why not?
For the most part, I agree with the representation of Indigenous peoples in this Video. The video clearly shows how climate change directly affects Indigenous peoples lifestyle. For example, the Video shows that when the climate changes, the Indigenous people don't know when to plant crops like they used to. However, I don't agree with someAfter watching all the videos in Colonial Context, I think that Indigenous are angry about what climate change is doing to their home. This video does not show this anger, and therefore does not show the Indigenous peoples personal feelings about the topic.
