The United States extracts oil from different parts around the globe, specifically Canada which is then imported into our country. This contributes to climate change because of the carbon dioxide emitted when used on a daily basis. For instance, transportation, homes, as well as a variety of other uses. All of this gasoline that is used in order to fuel these activities go somewhere. This gets collected in the earth’s atmosphere, trapped in by the ozone which collects more and more emissions. Oil spills could also be initiated during drilling at the source of the oil. Habitats have been destroyed while creating the oil mines, as well as animals have been forced out of their homeland. The increase in oil drilling gives an advantage to the United States, with the oil that has been collected, however depletes Canada of its natural resources. However, the indigenous who live in these areas of Canada which are being drilled for oil have a large disadvantage because their homeland has been completely compromised. Organizations such as Oceana oppose against offshore drilling as well as the decision by the Canadian government to allow oil drilling to occur. Many of these organizations believe that the indigenous people as well as the earth deserve the same amount of respect that each individual on the earth is given. However, these oppositions are in research and educational settings, rather than relying on violence and force in order to force a proposition into work. Although these organizations focus on ridding the oil drilling, they are pinpointing the ecosystem life between the atlantic coast as well as many onland environments as well. Even though the oil drilling has proposed many hardships for the natural life around Canada, the economy of the United States can benefit from this activity. As the United States has claimed land in order to dig for gold, the growing profit increases greatly with each oil dig. Since this is such a profitable and stable industry, companies are able to invest great deals of money into these actions in order to hope for positive future outcomes. In order to combat these problems of oil drilling, the slow reduction of oil drilling could be put in place gradually in order to create less oil issues in the future. By slowly eliminating these oil digging jobs and creating new alternative jobs, factories can close down overtime, decreasing the public harm these oil digs are causing. Alternative fueling could be researched more broadly, and could be more widespread in order to create the cost of alternative fuel higher than those of gasoline, as more people would buy. Additionally, this alternative fueling would decrease the popularity in gasoline, sending the alternative fuel markets soaring into the place of these other industries, eliminating the gas digging even further.
