United States: 2a Pre-Bilateral - Climate Change is Our Shared Problem

Oct 1, 2017 by Sidney Dunten
  • What are the most relevant actions/targets proposed in SDG#13

I think the Paris agreement is the most relevant action. First because they talked about how global warming led to natural disasters which led to many people getting killed or injured. But the main reason I think the Paris agreement is the most relevant is because it will help country's switch from carbon energy sources to non carbon energy sources. Which would mean the hurricanes would have less power because they rely heavily on heated water. Also it might help slow down climate change and maybe even stop it in its tracks.

  • How do SDG #13 targets respond to the challenges created by the effects of climate change in water in both Indigenous and non-indigenous communities?

Many of the nations affected by climate change responded by investing in stopping climate change. Many nations also placed safety measures and other plans in case a disaster happened. Developed nations invested jointly in helping less-developed nations in climate related needs. Also multiple nations agreed in the Paris agreement to each contribute a little to hep slow climate change.

  • What other areas do you think should be taken into account

I think the fact that nations are only investing money and not taking action should be taken in to account. A few nations like the US have contributed money to help less developed country's but them selves have not taken action. A few of these nations even backed out of the Paris climate agreement. Also if all the nations don't take action the world will slowly die. Without there help the world may not be able to stop the threat of global warming.

  • What elements would you incorporate if you had to build and action/target that addressed water, Indigenous peoples, and non-indigenous people. Provide a brief rationale that justifies each element.

People need to stand up for themselves and the world. Every individual needs to rise up and contribute to stopping climate change. Every person can change the world by biking around more instead of driving if every person did this the oceans would slowly cool along with the rest of the world which would mean less hurricanes less natural disasters and threats to the environment. Without every individual and country contributing our goal to stop climate change will never come true. If everybody just helps a little global warming might come to a stop.
