What is climate change?

Climate change is the gradual change in the average weather conditions in a particular area over a certain period of time due to human and other natural activities such as deforestation and the depletion of the ozone layer.

How does climate change affect me ?

High temperatures which are as a result of climate change causes a reduction in the water levels in Ghana. For instance, the Akosombo Dam whose water level reduced to 237.27ft which is below the minimal water level (240 ft). It has reduced the hydroelectricity power of the nation causing dumsor. Climate change affects the migration routes of animals especially during the cold temperatures. For example, when birds migrate expecting a very hot temperature and it’s freezing, their bodies aren’t able to withstand the cold temperatures and they eventually die. This is also in the long run causing animals to become extinct.

Certain people may say that climate change is not real or is natural however, I believe climate change is very real and is as a result of our own actions. If human beings use and conserve the resources the earth has provided us with and avoid practices that will destroy our surroundings, there shall be great improvements in the weather conditions in the area.
