United States: 1c Colonial Context

Environment   Sep 16, 2017 by brianwu

1. How does your footprint reflect the economy of your country, including its colonial relations?

My footprint reflects the economy of my country in a negative way. For example, I travel to school using a gas car. This contributes to pollution. Also, I use a lot of electricity a day. This includes charging my iPad and using electricity for everyday activities. Factories also release bad chemicals into the air. Victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma may need help rebuilding. This will require a lot of electricity and products manufactured from factories.

2. How are the effects of climate change related with power imbalances among countries or within countries?

The effects of climate change relate to the power imbalances among countries all over the world. A less developed country may be more vulnerable to harm than a well-developed country. For example, the USA is a well-developed country. On the other hand, Guinea may not be as well developed as the US. Climate change warms the oceans. This change of water temperature may result in natural disasters, such as hurricanes which can devastate areas. The country will then need to either need to spend more money or ask for help. Spending money will make the poorer, and asking for help may result in going into debt later on.
