United States: 1a My Virtual Profile

Environment   Jul 26, 2017 by naomiichiriu

A) What is your vision for a sustainable world?

My vision for a sustainable world is that some factors like the amount of our resources, food, and environmental quality would stay the same or even go up, while reducing the amounts of greenhouse gases we emit and pollution that we cause. Limiting the pollution we cause can help us end global warming, which will help the environment and ecosystems on Earth and also people's health and well-being. I also believe that we should recycle more, even if it takes more money to power the plants. We should recycle because if all the trash that we produce ends up in landfills or even in the ocean, it can pollute the environment and the life around it, such as humans, fish, and birds.

B) What are you planning to do to make this vision a reality?

I am planning to make sure I recycle more because every piece of plastic I recycle counts- having the plastic being used again versus filling up the ocean. I can also encourage other people to do the same and make sure that we are aware of the environment that we live in. I can also make sure that I am not littering or if see anybody littering, I would tell them or pick the trash up. All that I would do will contribute to slow global warming and rising pollution levels.

C) What impact has colonization had on our journey to a sustainable planet?

Colonization has impacted our journey to a sustainable planet by using up all of the resources in one place, such as chopping down trees to make space to live. People also need energy, running water, food, and they generate waste. Since humans need energy, they will build power plants that produce Co2 emissions or nuclear power plants that produce radioactive waste which needs to be buried in the ground. The plants will start to pollute the air around the city. For running water, people would take water from a river or such, and could impact the well-being of the aquatic life there because there is less water than usual. Animals' habitats will also shrink and their population will become smaller due to hunting.

You spoke about plastics in your post, I thought maybe these articles about plastic pollution might interest you. Search:
