Wraping everything up [Oct 19]

Environment   Oct 19, 2016 by Ramon UAlberta

Hi guys,

I'm Ramon. Graduate student at the University of Alberta in Canada and in this occasion I have the role of a mentor within your group.

I have read all your posts and I see that all of you are up to date about our energetic resources and which sources are the main ones.

You are even agreeing with most of the points you're bringing into discussion, which I might try to summarize:

  1. We are currently working (the whole world) with renewable and non-renewable resources, which can be called clean energy resources and fossil fuels, respectively.
  2. The population is aware that we need a change, but the idea of power laying on the head of governments is a generalized thought. So, we don't really feel that we are part of the change.
  3. The use of fossil fuels is a huge source of jobs in the countries relying on this type of energy. It would be risky and harmful to leave such a number of people jobless.
  4. A sudden transition to renewable sources of energy could lead to social and economic issues to several countries.
  5. The amount of energy produced bu renewable resources can not be compared to the one produces by fossil fuels.

So, what can we do? How should we address the change? How should we propose something new? It's hard to know.

But I found something that you might find interesting.

This is Green Peace unveiling 6 myths about renewable energy.

http://www.greenpeace.org/international/en/campaig...

And if you scroll all the way down and click on the option "Download the revolution" you will be able to see the document in which Green Peace has already put on paper a plan to address all these questions.

Take a look at it, we need somewhere to start and there's a lot of information out there which can help us a lot.
