Blogs
Hello all!
Happy belated Canadian Thanksgiving (It was Monday, October 10). Mentors should be back checking emails today, so please feel free to post any questions or resource requests AS A THREAD on our discussion blog. It will be good to keep this section for links to resources and .pdfs!
I am sharing a DOOZY of a resources here with you today. It is a factsheet produced by the UN, and within the factsheet are links to other references. These links are separated by category:
http://www.un.org/womenwatch/feature/climate_change/downloads/Women_and_Climate_Change_Factsheet.pdf
1. Women, agriculture and food security in the context of climate change
2. Women, gender equality and biodiversity in the context of climate change
3. Women, gender equality and water resources in the context of climate change
4. Women, gender equality and health in the context of climate change
5. Women, gender equality and changes in human settlements and migration patterns due to environmental degradation
6. Implications of climate change for women’s human rights
7. Women, gender equality and energy
8. Women, gender equality and technology in adaptation responses to climate change
9. Women, gender equality and financing of mitigation, adaptation and technology in relation to climate change
10. Women, gender equality and emergency measures during natural disasters
WOW that is A LOT of categories to navigate!! My suggestion... if you are working as a class, group off and each groups should read a link or two related to one of the topics listed. As a class, you can come together and each discuss your category, to efficiently get a thorough review of this factsheet. By explaining your topic to each other, you are not only helping your classmates understand but you are using your teaching skills!
If this is not your cup of tea, then by all means use this resources how you feel it needs to be used. For example, if you are noticing gaps in your paper or in your topic, go to this reference and use it as a starting point to guide you to the information you are missing!
Please let me know if you have questions, need me to proofread or make edits, or if you just want to chat! I will be checking blogs and discussion boards daily, so I should be getting back to you within 24 hours, now that the Holiday weekend is over.
Keep up the GREAT work Philippines and Taiwan! GO TEAM!!
Sincerely, your UAlberta mentor,
Brittany :D
