Women at the Frontline of Climate Change: Gender Risks and Hopes

Oct 8, 2016 by STC_PHILIPPINES_Maria Teresa R. San Jose

Hello TAIWAN-PHILIPPINES Pairing!

Greetings from the Philippines!

Everyone is affected by climate change, but NOT equally!.

As a woman coming from a 3rd world country like the Philippines, I have experienced the impacts of super typhoons and floods as a result of climate change. I have witnessed how the marginalized poor especially the women are most affected.

I am posting the article: Women at the Frontline of Climate Change. Gender Risks and Hopes http://www.unep.org/pdf/rra_gender_screen.pdf  with the hope that we become more aware of this concern and give greater attention to this sector of our society who have suffered much because of climate change. Many women around the world must adapt their lives to a changing climate. Empowering women and achieving gender equality are important goals but critical components of managing climate change.
