LO- sydney slubik- climate change in the indian mind

Oct 4, 2016 by sydney slubik

The article I read continually mentioned how education affected Indians awareness of climate change. Even though many were not familiar with the idea they readily accepted the idea. It makes sense to me how education has a great impact on their knowledge about this, but this article made me much more aware and concerned about the whole worlds recognition on this matter.

I completely agree with your thoughts on education, however I think it's important to keep in mind that India is a country full of many different regions and cultures. And besides just the background of the type of people you believe are under educated on climate change, its also crucial to keep in mind the history that the people of India have experienced with people coming into their country and telling them how to run things (Don't forget that's the same approach Britain took when they colonized).

I agree that in areas such as India not all people are not receiving the proper education they need to make informed decisions. I think that programs should be made into effect in order to create awareness for these pressing issues like climate change. This way more people can fully understand the issues and implement plans to solve them.

I think that before we expect any help from people that haven't been informed about the science of climate change we must help to teach and inform about the problem at hand.In countries like India they have some bigger problems but they have to realize that we are all in this fight together and we all have to contribute

I totally agree education is really important. But there must be something we as Canadians could do. Could we start a fundraiser to help raise money for those children? Or could we try to lower our carbon emissions so they won't be affected as much?

Schools do emphasize the impacts of climate change quite a bit. I understand how they would have very little knowledge in this area.

Is this lack of education on climate change in connection with all people from India, or is it just in connection with some people from India in a certain area?
