About Me
Howdy! I'm an Australian resident currently studying at Pimlico State High School in Townsville, Australia.
What is your vision for a sustainable world?
As an Australian who has moved throughout the states, I have had first-hand experience with different restrictions and requirements for natural resources (especially water). I have also observed how Australia's environment (as a fairly young country and relation to other developed societies) is less damaged by human influence. Through this I have developed a desire for not only my own country, but for the whole world to have a clean, sustainable future, not just for us but for future generations. This includes abundance of resources, access to facilities and basic human rights such as health care.
What are you planning to do to make this vision a reality?
It is a misconception that children can have no influence on the world, especially during this modern age. We as a group have the ability to develop a voice. It is important that every country, every person that does not embrace sustainability and/or understand the consequences of failure to do so is prompted to realise the appropriate pathways to a better future for generations to come. This happens through the direct provision of information to people. Through the restriction and discontinuation of harmful or unsustainable products/processes that harm the wellbeing of the environment. Through active participation from government and world leaders to ensure that sustainable action is enacted. This is the best way to ensure a better future for generations to come, as it is they who will adopt our world and they who will be forced to handle whatever is left upon them. It is through the Decarbonise project that as a cohort the youth of our planet now have the ability to show the global powers what their actions have brought on and how the subsequent problems will be addressed. Additionally, I can act on my own to better reduce my own impact and decrease the footprint of those around me, as each individual together can make a difference.
