America and Their Energy Use
America uses mainly fossil fuels to power our economic machine, and it also is one of our leading industries. This is important, because in the process of harvesting and utilizing these fossil fuels, we are harming our environment, not only by destroying it to gain access to the fuels, but also because when we consume the fuel, it releases harmful gases into the atmosphere, weakening and in some places destroying the ozone, allowing the sun's thermal rays to penetrate the ozone, and enter our atmosphere, causing climate change in many places. This is known as the greenhouse effect, and it is proven to be devastating to many species of animals, and by extension, humans.
