To determine my carbon footprint, I used an online carbon footprint calculator (https://depts.washington.edu/i2sea/iscfc/fpcalc.php) and obtained the results displayed in the table above. My carbon footprint reflects the economy status and politics of Australia because Australia has a relatively stable economy, is a developed country, and has an established and strong government. All of these factors are common in countries that have high CO2 emission rates. From my carbon footprint calculator results, it is evident that I have a very high rate of CO2 emission, especially in the “Home” category. Seeing my CO2 emissions in numbers made me realise how important it is that I start taking action now to reduce my carbon footprint, as I produce 7177kg more CO2 than the average Australian. The only thing that I find hard to understand about my results is how I produce almost 3 times the amount of CO2 from Home than the average Australian. I can’t think of anything abnormal that my family does in terms of electricity consumption so I’m confused as to what is causing us to produce such a high amount. The amount of CO2 my family and I produce in the “Purchases” category is quite low, as we recycle the large majority of plastics, glass bottles, and cans we use, but this is nullified by our high electricity consumption. I will keep working on reducing my carbon footprint during decarbonise and I hope I can get it to a suitable level in the near future.

It's interesting that your home footprint it 12,243. My entire footprint at 9,648 was less than your home by itself. I'm interested in what the problem is that is causing such a high result. Also I'm interested in what things you do at home to reduce your carbon footprint.

Hi Evan, I'm also very interested in what is causing my carbon emissions at home to be so high. I have talked to my parents and confirmed the details I put into the carbon calculator, so nothing I input was incorrect . I can't think of anything abnormal my family does in terms of electricity consumption that would affect my carbon footprint so greatly. If I figure out what the cause is I will inform you, thank you for taking interest.
