Hi I’m Mya and I’m from Pimlico, sadly I was not able to attend the Bi-Lateral experience where Pimlico and the Philippines talked to each other about the case studies we worked on.  The case study we presented was on the growing issue of unconventional gas and the Philippines talked about Dolomite mining. Since I was not there I did not get to hear all of the information but I have been told that my classmates that did attend really enjoyed this experience.

Our case study was around the unconventional gas in Australia, but more particularly in Victoria. The Philippines talked to us about how there are very high cases of dolomite mining. Also we heard that they are still in lockdown and have been since March, their law about going out is also very strict at the moment. We learnt about how deforestation is common there, which is also common in Australia. Water sources in the Philippines are scarce with majority of the water not even being safe to drink. Dolomite in the Philippines is being mined in a Quarry in Alcoy Cebu and was not green-listed. Dolomite contains heavy metals which is polluting ocean harming marine wildlife. The President has no problem with this however.

Hi Mya!

I'm Irene from the Philippines.

We really had a great time talking to your schoolmates during the conference but its still kind of sad we didn't get to meet you. Even if you weren't able to attend, I'm glad that you still got to pick up a few things from our presentation. I hope we get to meet soon!
