My Carbon Footprint Blog-Zachary Creech
So far I have seen that I have a low average for my calculator. I was very shocked about my score for the home category, I thought that it was going to be a lot more than what it was. I am also shocked that the most carbon was from food.
To lower my carbon footprint I can limit my shower, turn the lights of more, and start putting all of my food waste into a compost pile after I eat it. I can go riding my bike a lot more and instead of typing on the computer, I can start writing with pen and paper. I need to cut my screen time by a little bit, so in the time that I cut off I can go outside and workout or make something useful, for example, a garden, a mini birdhouse, and a painting maybe.
The biggest categories are home and food. I think that they are the biggest because I am mostly at home and I have meals 3 times a day and sometimes only 2 but that still has a lot of carbon. It also has to do with all of the technology in my home and the same with food, the more of something you have the more carbon comes out of it.
If I compare mine with my family the younger family members have a lower average than the older family members in my family. We are all around 2,000 more carbon above or below mine. I am surprised that all of our home categories are not within 100carbons of being the same.

Hi Zachary,
That is great that your Carbon Footprint is below the average, I can also relate to having to reduce my technology usage.
Hi Zachary,
I can relate to your carbon footprint being above average, and I need to cut down on my usage of technology as well.

Hi Zachary, I think that since you said your food section is the highest, maybe with your free time make a vegetable garden? I think that you have come up with great alternatives to reduce your carbon footprint and hopefully they work. Goodluck.
Hello Zachary,
We love how you included a comparison between you and the rest of your family. We wanted to know if you think your carbon footprint's size has been affected by this pandemic? For example, are you on screens more? Are you snacking more? (haha, we definitely have been) Or has it decreased since traveling is restricted?
Hi Zachary,
Good blog entry; I wanted to know why you think that the carbon usage was lower for the younger family members compared to the older family members. Also maybe you could post an image of your results once they've been calculated so that we can compare your carbon footprint to your country's average and also see the program you calculated it on.

Hi Zachary,
I can definitely relate to your carbon footprint I too need to cut back on my technology and start being more energy efficient, I also need to stop eating packaged foods and start composting all my scraps. Thankyou for sharing your carbon footprint.

Hey Zachary,
Thank you for sharing your carbon footprint, I have a few questions though;
- Why do you think your carbon footprint was lower than expected?
- How many people are in your family?
- Why do you think the younger family members have a lower carbon footprint?
I myself, have 6 people in my family and my carbon footprint was lower than expected because I did things that I didn’t even realise would help lower my carbon footprint. My washing is placed on a washing line to dry instead of using a dryer, my food scraps go to my chickens, I turn the tap off when brushing my teeth and I walk to and from school.
