Feb 23, 2015 by Karen Pashby

Hi!

I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Global Citizenship Education and Research at University of Alberta and a visiting scholar at the University of Helsinki's Agora for the Study of Social Justice and Equality in Education. Last year, I worked at the University of Oulu in FInland doing research on ethical interantionalisation and teaching in the Globalisation and Education Masters program there. Before that, I completed my PhD at University of Toronto where I worked as a teacher educator (specializing in global citizenship and multiculturalism) (I worked with Harbord C. I.'s teacher David Ast :)). I also co-ordinated a music program for new Canadian youth and worked as an academic coach for students from a variety of Toronto schools. Previously, I was a high school teacher (English and History) in Toronto and in Campinas, Brazil. I also did a two month teaching placement in Chibougamau, Quebec. I studied to become a teacher at McGill University and did my Masters of Education at York University. Currently, I do research about global citizenship and develop and give workshops on critical approaches to global citizenship education internationally. I am extremely happy to be a part of this initiative, and I know there is a lot of interest both here in Canada and around the world about the work you are doing together .
