Task

Pre-Task - 

1) Consider the extent to which we tend to think of global issues as problems ‘over there’. How can our perspectives as Canadians in different contexts contribute to the promotion of global citizens? (Discuss as a group)

    • Human Rights Watch video: Canada Highway of Tears re: lack of protection of indigenous women and girls, link

    • Canadian school community worked to support Roma refugees, link
    • Canadian youth at the forefront of environmental activism, link

    2) Critique one of the two examples of attempts to address issues relating to global citizenship. What are they missing? What might you need to modify to make them meaningful in your context

Main Task - 

  1. Apply the top 5 Rights and Responsibilities you articulated this past week. Write 5-10 recommendations for fostering global citizenship in an organization (you can pick your school, community, an NGO, clubs (i.e. girl guides), sport teams, etc)
