Hello! I am samreen from Nairobi- Kenya. This is my photovoice introduction and story. If we think of Kenya or Africa in general, most people who haven\'t visited us - think of Africa as this beautiful place full of trees and forests and I think many places were like that. Apart from the heavily industrialized and Residential areas, many roads and areas have a lot of trees and plants surrounding it. Roads around karura and Wayaki way were covered in trees and plants, these were very old trees which were there for many years, however, due to the fast-growing economy and population - Kenya, like many countries, is in this race of building projects large enough to attract more business, tourists and raise their economy- so many trees are cut down- some legally and some illegally. in the past month, over 250 trees were cut down legally in the city side to make space for hotels and highways. Not many news channels are reporting on this, possibly due to the consequences that might follow. Many Kenyans have protested by the use of social media however NO action has taken place. Who can we blame if our government isn\'t doing anything to help sustain our environment? How can we, as the next generation abide these projects? As the next coming generation, we must take action against this together and do all we can to help our earth.
