Hi, I’m Arushi and I’m from Mill Pond School in Westborough, Massachusetts. After joining this decarbonizing project and calculating my own family’s carbon footprint I’ve realized just how much carbon our daily tasks can produce. After finding this surprising piece of information, my family and I have decided to start recycling and putting more effort into making our world a better place. We’ve stopped throwing away plastic so quickly and instead reuse or repurpose the plastic. For example, I really like to make crafts and do art so I’ve decided to try to incorporate plastic lids and bottles into the artwork I make. We also repurpose some containers by filling them with other materials or ingredients instead of throwing them away. My family also eats a lot of home-cooked meals and are vegetarians. Most times we try to buy from our local market and farm so that we can try to throw away less of the packaging that comes with it. Most of all, we’ve learned about the impact of greenhouse gases and pollution and how if everyone comes together, we can heal our Earth.
