Throughout the web conference, I learnt many things about the other school from the Philippines. Additionally I learnt about climate issues affecting their country such as, Manila Bay’s dolomite sand, air pollution, contaminated water and deforestation. They also discussed the impacts that these issues can have on the environment as well as possible solutions to these issues. These consist of the marine life seawater being destroyed and becoming uninhabitable. The solutions that they introduced included, signing petitions, researching the issues more to have enough knowledge to enforce change and developing open communication with friends and family. When comparing our case study to theirs, I have realised that we have things in common. For example, both the case studies that were presented shows that there are significant health impacts on the people that are involved. Additionally, the challenges that Australia and the Philippines face have similarities and differences. A similarity would be the fact that for both countries, they require government approval for changed to be made. In saying this, the Australian government has started to take action unlike the Philippine government, who have not started to make change at all.
